Roche - Xenical: UK’s toothless watchdog investigates

Big Pharma’s UK watchdog is to investigate Roche over sales tactics for its weight-loss drug Xenical to slimming clinics, the Financial Times reported.
The Prescription Medicines Code of Practice Authority’s investigation into alleged inducement and supply’ of the drug follows a formal complaint from Ryta Kuzel, former head of Roche’s UK regulatory affairs, whom the company fired shortly after the start of investigations into Xenical supplies in 2005.
Roche denies wrongdoing and is cooperating with investigators, the newspaper added.
