Pfizer to Buy California Biotech Company
Tuesday, December 18th, 2007Pfizer announced that it will buy CovX, a small privately held biotech company. The La Jolla-based company has already generated an early stage diabetes treatment and two early stage cancer drugs. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter in which financial terms should be closed.

Chinese BioTechs May be in Play
Monday, December 3rd, 2007With Dupont’s announcement of a joint venture with Beijing Weiming Kaituo Agriculture Biotechnology Co. Ltd. to accelerate research into plant genes, expect some increased exposure for the Chinese biotechs. Dupont said the venture would be used to produce heartier crops through its Pioneer Hi-Bred seed brand. Financial terms were not disclosed.
